Checklist -
These are images of the checklist that comes in each package of Series
2 Cards.
|
Rare Bears -
These are the rarest cards in Series 2, there are 12 Rare Bear Cards each
card has one of the most collectible and rare Bears on it. The odds of finding one of these cards
are 1 in 50 packs.
These cards are holograms that produce an image of the bear that is 3D and
very colorful. These look best when viewed in direct sunlight!
Each card comes in one of 4 colors: Blue, Green, Silver and Gold,
with blue being the easiest to find and Gold
being the most difficult. The color of the card is
determined by the words "THE BEAR" under the name of the bear.
The following
table lists how many of each card were made:

Retired -
There are 15 retired cards in Series 2. They are numbered 274 to 288. The odds of finding
a Retired card are 1 in 5 packs. The front of each card shows a color picture of a beanie printed
on a metallic holofoil card. The back of these cards shows the beanies birth, issue and retired dates and
their poem.
Each card has a colored retired stamp on the front, the color of this stamp tells the cards rarity. Blue is the
most common color followed by Green, Silver and Gold. The Gold cards are numbered for greater rarity. The odds
of finding a Blue card are 1 in 8 packs, Green is 1 in 16 packs, Silver is 1 in 32 packs and Gold of course are
almost impossible to find!
|
Birthday/Rookie -
There are 24 Birthday/Rookie cards, numbered 250 through 273. The odds of
finding one of these cards is 1 in 3 packs. The same four colors are
used again with 100 golds for each. The color is determined by the color of the Beanies name
at the bottom of the card. The hardest of these to find are Caw, Nip and Peanut.
The odds of finding a Blue are 1 in 5 packs, Green are 1 in 10 packs, Silver are 1 in 30 packs and Gold which
again are numbered for rarity are just very rare to find!
The back of these cards have a 'This Day in History' fact.
|
Common -
The common cards in Series 2 appear to be a continuation of Series 1. There are 100 cards and they are numbered
150 to 249. Each card has a Beanie not scene in Series 1.
There are a lot of errors in the commons but the two biggest are that Scat is
numbered 125 instead of what it should have been, which is 217. Mel and
Millennium also share the 196 spot and 195 is vacant where Mel should have
been. Also unlike Series 1 there do not appear to be hard to find commons in
this series, although in general the higher the number, the more plentiful they are.
|
Trivia -
Each pack of Series 2 cards contains a Trivia Puzzle card. There are 25 different trivia cards, and yes the
only way to tell which ones you have is to scratch them! Each card has 5 questions. You are suppose to
read the back of the card for the directions on how to play the game. Each player much scratch a question and
answer is correctly. The top few questions are considered easier than the bottom ones.
|
Poster -
Each
Series 2 box contains what is known as a 'Box Topper'. In Series 2 these
are Posters, each Poster for the U.S. versions is double sided where one side makes up a check list of
all of the cards from Series 1 and the other side is a checklist of all the cards from Series 2.
This poster was not included in either of the Canadian or EU editions.
|
Canada/EU -
Cards were released also in Canada and Europe. The Canadian series was released on June 16, 1999.
Each card in the Canadian series has a red foil maple leaf in the top corner of the card.
There are
three cards missing in the Canadian edition, two commons:
Sammy the tie dye bear and Mac the
Cardinal and one Rare Bear Princess. While the
checklist was updated to remove these three, Ty obviously
didn't want to update the poster, so these were left
out of the boxes. It seems that there are 11 signed
cards in the Canadian series, 1 each of the Gold Rare Bears. The numbers of Gold cards for
the Rare Bears appears to be approximately correct given the run size, but for the retired and birthday/rookie
cards, they have produced more golds that for the US edition. For many of the birthday/rookies there
are 8 to 10 golds rather than the expected 2 or 3.
The European edition appeared in the late summer of 1999,
first in England. This edition has the same three cards missing as in the
Canadian edition, there is also no poster. Each of these cards has a blue 'EU' printed in one of
the top corners. The run size appears to be about twice that of the Canadian cards, but is is unknown how many
autographed cards there are. A signed Grunt has been reported to smartcollecting, so it is clearly different
from the Canadian run.
